Once napalm-unix exists:

  • Import the readers from there instead of napalm-device-types.
  • The privilege layer (_is_root, _privileged, run_command, open_stream, _install_file_as_root) moves there, so napalm-bsd gets the same rules.
  • The parsers for passwd/group (get_os_users), crontab (get_cron_jobs) and ps (get_processes) are shared with napalm-bsd. The BSD crontab parser keeps @reboot and VAR= lines, which this one drops; the BSD ps parser reads lstart correctly (#21).
  • Names on the host lose the application's name: __NETORK_RC=, /tmp/netork-stage.*, .netork-tmp.
  • _collect_platform_info and get_system_identity read the same DMI files in two ways; keep one.

Needs NAPALM/napalm-device-types#35.

Part of NetOrk/netork#1105. Plan: NAPALM/napalm-device-types docs/STRUCTURE.md (branch docs/structure-plan).

Prio P3.
